If you sell through Shopify or WooCommerce alongside your physical shop, orders can arrive at any time: while you're at the till serving an in-store customer, in the stockroom, or away from your desk entirely. Before this update, finding out about a new order meant remembering to check the Online Orders page yourself. Now the system tells you.
How the live unread badge works
The Online Orders item in your sidebar now shows a live unread-count badge that updates the moment a new order comes in. You don't need to refresh the browser or navigate into the page to know something new has arrived. If three new orders land while you're working elsewhere in the dashboard, you'll see "3" on the sidebar the instant they sync.
Auto-refresh on the Online Orders page
If you already have the Online Orders page open, say, you're keeping an eye on it during a promotion, it auto-refreshes automatically when a new order lands, so the new order simply appears without you needing to manually reload the page.
How orders actually get to you: sync mechanics
Orders sync from your connected Shopify or WooCommerce store via webhook, which is near-instant. As a safety net for any webhook that gets missed, connection blips happen, WebpinnPOS also runs a background pull every 15 minutes to catch anything that slipped through. If you want to check right now rather than wait, there's a manual "Sync Now" button on the Online Orders page that pulls the latest orders on demand.
What you see once an order notification lands
Every order on the dedicated Online Orders page shows the order number, its source (Shopify or WooCommerce), the date it was placed, the customer's name, email, and phone, line items, payment status, fulfilment status, and total. Summary stat cards at the top show your total orders, orders still awaiting fulfilment, and total revenue: so a glance at the page tells you what needs action right now.

Who sees this, and when it appears
The Online Orders feature, including its live notifications, only appears if your shop actually has Shopify or WooCommerce connected. Visibility to individual staff members is permission-gated and controlled by the shop admin, so you decide who on your team sees online order activity. Online orders are also tracked as a separate transaction type from your in-store Sales history, so your POS sales reports stay clean and distinct from your online order records.
