How the Shopify sync works

WebpinnPOS connects to your Shopify store using the Shopify Admin API. Stock flows in both directions so your online and in-store inventory always match.

In-store sale → Shopify

  1. Customer buys an item at your physical shop. You process the sale in WebpinnPOS.
  2. WebpinnPOS deducts stock from its inventory records immediately.
  3. The updated stock level is pushed to Shopify automatically. In real time.

Shopify order → POS stock & Online Orders

  1. A customer places an order on your Shopify store.
  2. Shopify sends a webhook to WebpinnPOS (paid and partially-paid orders only).
  3. Stock deducts automatically, and the order appears on your Online Orders page with customer and line-item detail.
  4. Mark it fulfilled from WebpinnPOS, Shopify's fulfillment status updates automatically.

Shopify products → POS catalogue

  1. Click "Import from Shopify" in your WebpinnPOS dashboard.
  2. Products, prices, SKUs, barcodes, images and categories are imported.
  3. A background sync updates products every 30 minutes automatically.

Automatic webhook registration

  1. When you connect your Shopify store, WebpinnPOS registers four webhooks: orders, product creates, product updates, and inventory level changes.
  2. These run automatically in the background. No configuration required.

Set up in under five minutes

The connection uses Shopify OAuth. No API keys to copy, no plugin to install.

    Open Integrations

    In your WebpinnPOS dashboard, go to Settings → Integrations and click "Connect Shopify".

    Enter your store URL

    Type your Shopify store address (e.g. yourstore.myshopify.com) and click Connect.

    Authorise in Shopify

    You will be redirected to Shopify to approve the connection. Click Install and you are returned to WebpinnPOS.

    Import your products

    Click "Sync Products" to import your Shopify catalogue. The background sync then runs every 30 minutes automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Does this work with all Shopify plans?
Yes. WebpinnPOS connects using the Shopify Admin API, which is available on every Shopify plan including Basic.
How long does the initial product import take?
Most stores import in under five minutes. Shopify allows up to 10,000 products per sync. The import runs in the background. You can continue using the POS while it completes.
What happens if a product sells in-store and on Shopify at the same time?
WebpinnPOS pushes the updated stock level to Shopify after every in-store sale. If two sales happen within the same second on different channels, the 30-minute background sync will correct any discrepancy. For very high-volume scenarios, managing stock with a safety buffer is recommended.
If I create a new product in WebpinnPOS, does it appear on Shopify?
No. Products only sync from Shopify into WebpinnPOS, not the other way. If you add a product to your POS only, it will not be created on Shopify automatically.
Do I need a separate Shopify app or plugin?
No. The integration is built into WebpinnPOS. You connect your Shopify store directly from the Integrations section of your WebpinnPOS dashboard. No third-party app required.
Are Shopify orders visible inside WebpinnPOS?
Yes. Every Shopify order, customer details, line items, and payment status, appears on the Online Orders page inside WebpinnPOS, alongside stock deducting automatically. You can mark an order fulfilled from WebpinnPOS and that status pushes back to Shopify, export orders to CSV, and see everything without switching tabs. Online orders are tracked separately from your in-store Sales history, since they're a different transaction type.
